GORDON: What made you decide to stick with it? GORDON: But I'm sure there were people whispering in your ear, saying, `Jamie, right now is not the time for you to be political'. Many people know that you played him in "Redemption." over the course of the last month or so, and that's the involvement with the Stanley "Tookie" Williams case. GORDON: Come back to the music in just a moment, but I want to talk a little bit about something that has brought you to the news. And musicians that are in the industry already know about me and the music thing, but they were, like, `Foxx, let us help you make that transition and not just a fad or something that's going to be here today, gone this afternoon.' You know, I tried this music thing at one point and it wasn't the right thing-you know, it was about timing. Well, you know what? I think I got lucky. when people enter the door musically through other-particularly comedians. GORDON: Now one of the things that you and I have talked about over the years in terms of what you want to do musically, is the idea that you want people to take Jamie Foxx the musician seriously as well. FOXX: I think it's very fair and there is that celebrity `Let's go have a wild, fun ride.' And then there are those moments like on this record where it really is Eric Bishop, or when I talk about, you know, my daughter, "Heaven Will Never Be The Same," and the last track on the record, which is "I Wish You Were Here," which I dedicated to my grandmother. GORDON: And do you think they're both on this. GORDON: And that is that Southern gentleman.
GORDON: There seems to me to be two Jamie Foxxes. Here's what's interesting about the CD for me: It really captures who I think you are. He releases a new CD called "Unpredictable." Today Foxx is highlighting his musical side. The Texas native is an established stand-up comic, pianist and vocalist. GORDON: Foxx is a throwback to the days of the multitalented entertainer. Now 75 cents of every dollar and honoring my own masters is a pretty damn good deal. FOXX: (As Ray Charles) Yeah, and you were the ones that taught me that making a record is a business and find the best business deal that you can. RICHARD SCHIFF: (As Jerry Wexler) Yes, we've done very well, Ray. Atlantic has done pretty good money-wise on my records, haven't they? Bliges "WHATS THE 411" Alicia Keys "SONGS IN A MINOR". In the years weve had classics like MJs "THRILLER" Princes "PURPLE RAIN". From the slow melodic tunes of R&B to the Hip Hop Sounds that make you bounce to the beat, this CD is truly worth it! Please dont underestimate this CD, Jamie Foxx is truly Unpredictable. Yo, Many might say that Jamie Foxx is a moocher riding on the coat tail of the Box Hit "Ray".Some might say that he is just another actor/comedian tryna make a lil more dough. Its got music for every situation pure, pleasant, and private. Great voice.very versatile.on one song, he sounds just like John Legend!Īll I have to say is that if you have seen Jamies work as a comedian and an actor, you will not be disappointed by this CD. This man can do it all and he aint bad to look at either.
